November 29th, 2008

Here it is, almost 2:00 in the morning, but I don't want to let go of my computer, because Facebook is finally working! So just checked the messages on my little pink phone that goes with my little pink Cannon camera—thank you, Aunt L! (We have to pretty much put everything into power point for lesson presentations. They don't have the old-fashioned overheads here that they do in the States. Everything is projected onto a big screen t.v. in the classroom. Anything that's not already on a computer or the internet, needs to be digitally captured so it can be put on the screen vis-à-vis the computer. I had been using the camera on my cell phone until this point…. So, again, thank you, Aunt L!) :]

The weather is getting colder here. It started out hotter than Palm Springs in August and now it feels like Oregon in the fall. …which is nice. I met a man on a bus who said he didn't like it here because there were just two seasons—summer and winter. It's true. One day we had our air conditioners turned to full blast and literally the next day we were all getting out our fleece and boots from the closet. No one believed me when I said it would get cold. (Here we are in tropical Southern China!) I even doubted myself. (I had packed 3 sets of fleece pants and sweatshirts.) Now, after wearing all manner of fleece separates I am so glad I came prepared. Word to the wise: Southern China = Southern California (light to warm layers) in clothes-packing needs.

Hope you all have a good night.
Signing off,
